The Omega,
Sure. But it is very slow and you can only JOIN. Just tap in the IP number of person HOSTing and you can start playing.
A GPRS device can never HOST however.
You can only JOIN a game being HOSTed by a PC with port 2222 open. _________________

P. Kitty,
Some DSL or cable routers have WiFi built in or can be upgraded with a card installed. $100
Some routers just have an Ethernet plug on the back that plugs into your existing wired (Ethernet) network. $35-85
Bluetooth (BT) routers only work with an existing wired network. They have an ethernet plug on the back that you plug into your Ethernet network. $75-125. There is no such animal, that I know of, that is a router with BT. No HOSTing with BT.
Softick is only useful for connecting a non wireless Palm to the Internet through your desktop computer PC). You need to tell the desktop PC to allow the Palm to share the connection with the desktop PC. That is where the confusion starts.
I use to use both WiFi and BT to play WI games online.
Good luck _________________

No more HOSTing. Need more participation. Email for game.
It's too bad, alfex!
When you did host, was there even anyone there within the last couple months? _________________

Omega,
When you start WI, the version number appears in the lower right hand corner. If it says v1.2, then you have the latest version.
Just download the new version onto your phone via the ActiveSync from this web site.
http://www.warfareincorporated.com/download.php
To play a multiplayer game (MP), just tap the button on the opening screen of WI titled "PLAY MULITIPLAYER". If phone is in ActiveSync cradle, then skip to next step (Tap Specify). If not in cradle, then I assume you have a data service plan with your cell phone. This is known as GPRS on a GSM type phone (Cingular or T-Mobile). Go to next step.
Now tap NETWORK button.
Tap SPECIFY
Tap in the IP number of a HOSTing player (206.124.153.196) . Don't forget to put in periods between the numbers where needed.
Tap OK and device will seach for the HOST. You should see "Al Felker's game" come up on your screen.
Tap JOIN
You should see your device name under PLAYERS.
Tap READY and the HOST will then tap START and game will begin.
Good luck.

e-mail the ppl you bought it from and it might work, also try e-mailing handmark (support@handmark.com).
Is there a way to wirelessly (let's pretend I have a T|5)-to my uncle's PC without installing palm desktop? _________________

T|5 has Bluetooth (BT) only. I assume you have a WiFi network in your home? Ethernet network is a wired network protocol in a home.
You can connect to the Internet two ways.
Easy: Get a BT router($75-100) for your existing Ethernet network.
Hard: Add a BT dongle($15-25) to a PC already on the network. Then configure a serial port to work with the BT dongle to let you get on the Internet through the PC. This is fairly complicated to configure. There are various threads on WI forum about how to do this.
Easy but not good solution: Add a WiFi card to T5 and join existing WiFi network in your home. T|5 may not handle processing both WI game and WiFi processing with SD card. BT is much better solution for T|5 since it is built in to device. You cannot HOST a game with BT however.
Hope this helps, |
