Hey, guys, it's a thrill to join you. I just got added to the group and am looking forward to writing a level and working through some bugs together.
As I'm downloading the .NET file to be able to run the editor, I am skimming the Forum. I notice Game files are getting corrupted. Reminds me of the KQ days - the KQ editor never really left beta...
Anyway - a really good idea is to frequently Save As your level.
If you notice on Wed. that it is corrupted, you can just go back to Tues. or Mon.'s saved level.
I would suggest also backing your level up to another place every week or so.
And make darn sure to be backing up your Palm regularly.

Well, it happened. A bug killed my level and I can't fix it.
Save As often!

Ya know what else is keeping me up at nights?
That vehicle that is the symbol of WI, now --
It's really cool, and very, very well drawn.
But - which one is it?
I also wanted to 'bump' this post back to the top, to remind any newbies that:
1. the level editor does not prompt to Save when exiting, so make sure you Save first
2. Save As often, in case your level gets corrupted.

Girt, mine always prompts to save when exiting if a change has been made. Are you sure yours doesn't?
And I agree with you, Girt, it's still a good idea to save regularly. And I mean *often*
I block out my logic on paper, and make sure I save after every half sheet or so.
Just as important: the editor DOES save when you compile.
If you are troubleshooting, do a SAVE AS to create a copy of your original and do your testing on that. That way, once you find the actual error, you can go back to the original. _________________ Why negotiate when you can just blow things up?

It would be a bug if it doesn't prompt when exiting. _________________ Warfare Incorporated Development Team |

OK, the two of you straightened me out on that. It doesn't prompt to save when I exit, because I always compile the mission, last thing. So - it was just automatically saved.
Well, good!
I like this editor.
I still Save As often. I just made some radical changes to the map, and if I don't like 'em, I won't have to refix it.
Love the way you can move entire portions of it around tho!
