What do you guys think of the new Droid X? It has a 4.3 inch screen, an 8 mega-pixel camera for 720p video shooting, and it supports Adobe Flash Player. If Apple ends up signing with Verizon, I wouldn't know which one to chose: iPhone 4 or Droid X.

If you don't know much about the Droid X, click here for an article about it.

Galm, it's Retina Display, not Retina Vision. We all have retina vision, it's in our eyes!

Here's how I look at the iPhone 4 versus the Droid X:

► Screen display
- iPhone 4: Retina Display: A super-sharp screen display at 960 by 640 resolution
- Droid X: 4.3" screen: .8" bigger than the iPhone 4 which has a 3.5" screen
► Camera
- iPhone 4: A front facing camera for video chats. You must be on wifi and have another iPhone 4 on the other end.
- Droid X: 8 megapixel camera. iPhone 4 has a 5 megapixel camera, however the Droid X does not have the front facing camera.
► Inside the phone:
- iPhone 4: A4 processor chip which makes the phone much faster.
- Droid X: Is Adobe Flash player compatible (once version 2.2 comes out), which the iPhone 4 is not.

All the the Droid X aspects are listed in my previous post, but this time I simply put them in comparison to the iPhone 4.

There is also the Evo, but that is basically the Droid X for Sprint only it has 4G capability and and front facing camera.

I have played WI since 2004 or 2005 on a Compaq ipaq and a Plam t5. both are broken now and I haven't played for a couple years. Now i own a Blackberry 8530 and the Motorola Droid. I'd love to play this game again. On my list of favorite RTS games its #2 behind C&C Redalert. When could we see this awesome game ported to the Android OS?

If you had any real logical reason as to why the iPhone 4 is better people may listen to you a bit more. You need to directly compare them, as N@te did. I plan on getting the Evo since I have sprint, and have already played around with my sisters as well, and it is amazing, epecially the 4g network Sprint has to offer. As icedmocha has stated though, only time will tell what the market demand ends up being.

Nateput enough specs, and I didn't rly it thought that post I think droid has potential and I first thought iPhone 4 would shoot it down but it sucks so I'm not sure, plus droid basically tried to take the iPhone and do everything a tiny bit better, so I don't know or care where I stand, also hi DBZ u haven't posted in forever.

Hi All,

In respects to the iPhone versus Android based devices the discussion of which is better or which is going to win out over the other is irrelevant to this topic which is a request for a release of Warfare Inc or at least the developers thoughts in regards to a release of Warfare Inc for the Android platform.

Could someone from the company respond as to what the status or thoughts are on this query?

For those of you who want to continue the raging debate of iPhone versus Droid there are lots of venues dedicated to people flaming each other back and forth all day long on that topic. As individuals who all like Warfare Inc regardless of platform can we stick to the topic at hand?

No offense Wink

Thanks

Gordon

I found a phenomenal article on Yahoo about not just Droid phones, but Android OS powered phones in general.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ytech_gadg/20100813/tc_ytech_gadg/ytech_gadg_tc3422

I really think that having this app for at least the majority of popular Android OS phones would be a wonderful investment. Android is growing really fast, and so would this app on that platform.

I finally got my new Android powered phone, the Sprint HTC EVO 4G. It is amazing in every aspect but one...it doesn't have Warfare Incorperated on it! Wink

PostPosted: Wed Oct 20, 2010 6:21 am    Post subject: Android a fad? Don't think so. Reply with quote

I re-registered for the first time in years to simply say "android please!"

The few people in the forums who feel android is a fad and merely waiting to be killed by Apple have underestimated the power of a good, open platform OS. Any phone manufacturer with good hardware don't have to build their own software - they have android OS. The quarter that Apple released the Iphone 4, they had their best quarter ever. And Android still outsold it.

Fragmentation in the Android market with all those manufacturers using the droid OS was a potential problem that Google anticipated nicely. They added scaling code so developers don't have to manage screen size and resolution. And the marketplace automatically filters software that won't run on your device, so if you code to a specific minimum spec, you won't be seeing frustrated users wanting their $$ back because it doesn't run. If you developed for 1.6, for example, it would be compatible w future versions.

Per the April 2010 Mobile Metrics report, there were 8.7 million Android versus 10.7 million iPhone devices in the US, and 11.6 million Android versus 27.4 million iPhone devices world wide. With Android outselling Apple, how long before the figures flip? Pretty dramatic numbers for a "fad." True, apple iOS still has 80% of the mobile device OS market, but they have to count iPones, iTouch, iPad and all the rest to get to that percentage. Looking at only phones for the moment, Android is more than nipping at their heels in the phone market. And once we start to see serious pad development, they'll take a run there as well.

So, the customers are definitely out there, and I'd be the 2nd one to pony up the money. PLEASE RELEASE AN ANDROID VER! I haven't been able to play since Palm days, and I'm really missing WI.

Thanks!
