Has anyone played with the map size at all. I know the default editor size is set as 64x64 (62x62 working).

I have not tried increasing it, but what is the largest it will take.?

I am hoping to create an 'Epic Battle' type map that is pretty large, and wasn't sure if it would take it.

Something like 256x256.!!! Shocked
I think this would come down to resources and platform. There was a thread discussing the number of units allowed before the game crashed.

I did try to increase the map size and it designed fine, but when I installed it it wasn't playable. I think I went to 80 X 80 and couldn't make it work. I only tried once. Any one else try?

Has anyone else notices a direct relation between the map size in the map, and the minimap size in the game?

Yeah.

That's why you should keep your maps as small as possible.

But 256x256 WOULD be cool...

Hey spiffcode, could you make it so that the minimap is squished down once you get to a certain size? And make more units available?

O.M.G.!! Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

OK, I created a 256x256 map within the editor.
I changed the boundary size to 254x254.
Added two Headquarters (one each for side 1 and 2)
Gave each side 9999 credits.

Thats it - nothing else
Saved the map.

Here's the shocker. When trying to export the mission, I got an error saying "Out of Memory" Shocked
I tried again. Again "Out of Memory"

I closed all other applications except for M.exe and Task Manager.
When creating this huge map M.exe was taking up OVER 700mb in resources.! Exclamation Shocked Exclamation

700MB Exclamation

The resulting PDB file was only 6kb.

I installed it on my Palm m515, and fired up WI.....Error. Unable to load and initialize the mission.

Guys, the limit is 64x64 currently. We're thinking of increasing it but it's not high on the priority list. We'll add a check to M to validate the size.
